| Vacurema® inline sheet technology going from strength to strength |
The direct way from PET bottle flake to flat PET sheet – approved for direct food contact.
Ansfelden, Austria, September 2009. – Erema (www.erema.at), the Austrian manufacturer of plastic recycling systems, is recording above-average growth rates for its Vacurema® inline sheet technology for the production of flat PET film in a single working step direct from post-consumer bottle flake. The worldwide Vacurema® system capacity installed for this purpose has more than doubled within a mere three years, growing from 65,000 tonnes per year at the end of 2005 to 158,000 tonnes at the end of 2008. In Europe the production capacity even trebled in the same period, rising from 20,000 tonnes (end of 2005) to 60,000 tonnes per year at the end of 2008.

| PET recycling with VACUREMA PRIME technology: guaranteed IV increase is outperformed in practice |
|
A North American EREMA customer based in Michigan has been using the first large-size VACUREMA PRIME 2018 T-VS in full-scale production service for recycling post-consumer PET flake since the early summer of 2008. In compliance with the specification, EREMA had designed the system for a throughput of 1,200 to 1,800 kg/h. Upon award of the order, it was further stipulated in the same specification that the equipment should provide repellets with an intrinsic viscosity (IV) gain over the input material (100% bottle flake) of at least 6% at a throughput of 1,350 kg/h.

Efficiency combined with process stability: Jean-Paul Dumond counts on a large Erema system once again
Ansfelden, Austria, May 2009. – After "trying and testing" the first Erema TVE recycling
system he purchased in 2006, Jean-Paul Dumond has now doubled his production capacity
with Erema technology. Based in Saint-Romain-Lachalm in the Auvergne region of France,
the recycler has commissioned a second large-scale facility with the same design as the
first: an Erema 1721 TVE, configured for throughputs up to around 2,000 kg/h with intensive
degassing of the melt processed. The two plants now process clean production waste
(primarily high-quality PE-LD) from film producers in the region. Dumond decided in favour
of an LF 4/350 Erema laser filter system as the melt filter for this, the largest TVE in the
range, with the filter unit upstream of the melt degassing, plus an Erema HG 342 hot die
face water ring pelletiser for pelletising. Of the six large-scale Erema 1721 TVE systems
currently in operation throughout Europe, three of them are now in production in France –
and two of those alone for Dumond recycling.
