Total Recycling processes post-consumer waste using an INTAREMA® TVEplus®
Romanian recycler thrives with EREMA technology

Total Recycling, a family-owned Romanian business, has specialized in recycling post-consumer and production waste into plastic pellets. One of their most challenging tasks is recycling used big bags, which require specialized handling due to their properties. By leveraging an INTAREMA® TVEplus® machine and an EREMA laser filter, Total Recycling has mastered the efficient processing of these woven bags made from polypropylene fibres.

Founded in 2003, SC Total Recycling SRL has consistently focused on advancing plastics recycling. With a dedicated team of 22 employees, the company has a production capacity of 15,000 tonnes per year and handles plastic waste consisting of polypropylene, polyethylene and polystyrene. The recycled and recompounded pellets produced are used for various industries, including construction, agriculture, furniture and packaging. These pellets can be found in products such as pipes, films or injection molding parts. “Sustainability and energy efficiency are core to our operations”, says Sebastian Sasu, CEO of Total Recycling. Reflecting this commitment, the company recently installed solar panels covering approximately 1,400 square metres. “We are committed to sustainable management in every aspect of our business. In addition to promoting the circular economy through the production of recycled pellets, we are also using green energy for our production. We have found a partner in EREMA who has been instrumental in joining this path”, Sasu explains.

Laser filter paves way for further investment

Among the various post-consumer and production waste processed by Total Recycling, used big bags present a significant challenge due to the need for pre-shredding, washing and efficient filtration. “We required a highly efficient filtration system to meet our standards, which led us to EREMA”, shares Sebastian Sasu. The EREMA laser filter type LF 2/354 from the POWERFIL business unit exceeded the company’s expectations, and the excellent support from EREMA’s team further solidified the decision to invest in an INTAREMA® 1512 TVEplus® recycling machine. “We are absolutely satisfied with the EREMA solution”, Sasu emphasizes. “The system impresses with its superior homogenization and filtration performance, as well as its energy efficiency and cost effectiveness.”

Expanding Production with Future Projects

With streamlined production processes in place, Total Recycling is poised for further growth. The company plans to expand its operations with the INTAREMA® system and explore new projects. One upcoming initiative involves the creation of a dedicated line for sorting municipal plastic scrap, once again utilizing advanced EREMA technology.
